Sunday, August 20, 2017 - Silver Lake Park, Maple Falls, WA, Day 4, 0 Miles, 14 Towing Miles For the Trip
A quiet Sunday. Most of the sites were reserved through today and almost everyone left. There are 2 other sites reserved until tomorrow, and for some reason, the three sites next to me must have extended their stay for another night. They didn't look like the types that would take advantage of a campground where the park rangers don't seem to visit or check. While not the ideal place for viewing the eclipse, it it better than some.
I have seen an interesting tactic at a couple of state parks - early in the morning a vehicle will drive through looking for an empty site that still has a checkout tag for the current day. Since most state parks have late checkouts of 2:00 - 3:00, they can get a half a day in the site without reserving. I've even seen a few set up tents for a short nap, than pack up by checkout time!
That is about all that was interesting today. I spent most of it reading & chasing the sun - it was only 51°F this morning, and only got into the 60's during the day.
Dinner was the rest of the chicken meatballs & spaghetti sauce (well I also added some actual spaghetti).
Until next time -
