Sunday, August 19, 2018 - Red River Exhibition Park, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Day 5, 0 Miles, 1,571.6 Miles for the Trip

A warm night with a bit of rain, thunder & lightning, but it cleared up by the morning. Very windy - a peak of 30MPH lifted my mat off the ground & knocked over both tables & my Coleman Grill/Stove. No damage, but the wind was strong enough that sitting outside wasn't all that comfortable. I finally set my chair up in the wind shadow created by the trailer. Unfortunately, that was in the sun, which, when the clouds parted, was pretty hot.

Around noon we headed to the city to visit the Bothwell Cheese store. They suckered us in with a wine & cheese gathering the other day and $2.00 off tickets to the store. The smoked Gouda cheese samples were wonderful, and evidently others thought so as well; we bought the last two blocks left in the store. I also bought a small brick of Red Wine X Old Cheddar, and one of Monterey Jack cheese. I have no idea how good the cinnamon buns they had at the check out counter are, but I'll find out in the morning.

After that it was back to the trailer and more sitting around. I finished a Jeffery Deaver book, Speaking in Tongues, that I hadn't read before, and then cooked up some sausage Anne bought at the cheese store for dinner. We had that along with some sauerkraut & a Caesar salad.

After dinner I started putting some stuff away preparing for leaving tomorrow.

Until Tomorrow -

  1. If you're a smoked Gouda fan, be sure and visit the Blue Heron creamery in Tillamook!
