Elephant Butte Lake, NM |
We said our good byes this morning, with Don & Anne starting for home & heading to Santa Rosa State Park, while I'm heading south to Elephant Butte Lake State Park. Very sad not to see the rear end of a Scamp in front of me, and I'll miss traveling with both of them!
I arrived here around 2:00, and found a pull through site (#18) that worked as long as I pulled in backwards. Fortunately, the trailer is small enough that I could turn around. Like all New Mexico state parks, only $14.00 per night for an electric & water site, one of the best state parks prices in the country. I'm quite aways from the showers & bathroom, but that doesn't matter because they are unheated, and today's high was 48°F. I did hook up the water since the weather report says it is only going down to 36°F tonight.
After setting up I headed to Walmart for some supplies, then back to the campground. I took a photo of the lake. Like most of those in the southwest, it is way below normal level.
Dinner was a Kahiki General Tso's Chicken Bowl & Roll. The bowl was a bit hot for me, and only 2 pieces of soggy chicken (it is a microwave only meal) but the egg roll was pretty good.
Until Tomorrow -
Yup, temperatures on headed down for sure.
ReplyDeleteWe like the South Monticello campground at Elephant Butte. It's a few miles north of the main campground area but has a much better bathroom that is actually heated.
