Bear Creek RV Park, Valdez, AK

Along Alaska 4
Saturday, June 27, 2015, Bear Creek RV Park, Valdez, AK, 238.1 Miles Today, 4162.7 Miles for the Trip

We finished our over 1000 mile drive on the Alaska Highway, took the Tok Cutoff towards Valdez & Anchorage, then AK 4 to Valdez. Light rain towards the end of the drive. We stopped for a 10 minute construction wait, and for some photos along the roadway. The drive to Valdez goes by some very pretty scenery. Lots of mountains, lakes even glaciers & waterfalls.

We are set up in sites 69 & 70 & will probably stay here tomorrow. We are ahead of schedule & it will be nice to relax for a day. Unfortunately, it is raining, and rain is predicted for tomorrow as well, but is is a very light rain so far.

After setting up we drove in Don's van to the hatchery to see if we could see any wildlife eating fish. Unfortunately, no salmon were running & the picking were slim. We did see a couple of eagles, but for the most part they were too far away for usable photos. After that we drove to the end of the road where the Valdez Terminal for the Alaska Pipeline is located.

More photos at today's LakeshoreImages page.

Since it was raining, we decided to go into town for dinner. We ate at the Fat Mermaid.

Until next time -
