Jonestown KOA

Jonestown KOA, Site 35, Jonestown, PA
Sunday, April 12, 2015, Jonestown KOA, Jonestown, PA, 161.5 miles, 270.3 for the trip.

An interesting night. The weather predictions for Oswego were mid 30's, however Binghamton had other ideas. Woke up to 28°F. Both my trailer & Don's had been dewinterized, and neither of us left any heat on in the trailer. Don & Anne seemed to make out OK other than ice on the water in the toilet, but I had frozen everything. Pump wouldn't, faucets frozen solid as well as the toilet flush valve. Expecting the worst, hoping for the best, I fired up the furnace, and by 10:00, it was 55°F in the trailer, 40°F outside, and everything was back to normal. I couldn't find any leaks.

I do have a couple of "First Time This Year" problems. The 120 volt switch on the water heater is failing. If you wiggle it, it eventually makes contact, however driving down the road or even shaking the trailer will open the connection (without moving the switch itself). Looks like an interesting thing to replace. It still works fine on gas. The other problem is the usual - the refrigerator. It stopped running on 120V a few times last fall, but every time I went to troubleshoot, it started working again. Well, at today's stop here in Jonestown it isn't working so I'm going to have to see if I can catch it while it is in a bad mood...

I spent most of the morning going over things on Don & Anne's new Scamp. We changed the incandescent lamps over to LEDs, and talked about adding a 12V receptacle, maybe another light over the bed, etc. Of course, Don is still working, and has the usual Spring schedule for the educational theatre industry - no weekends free until June.

An uneventful drive down I 81 to the Jonestown KOA for an overnight. I arrived around 2:30, and paid $40.50 for a full hookup site (with a KOA card discount). A nice, level pull through on the river.

Since I have always done my best to bore you with what is/was for dinner on my previous trips, I guess I'll continue on this one. I forgot to do it last night, but we stopped at Sammy's Pizza in Ithaca for individual slices of pizza. Excellent thin crust pizza. Tonight it will probably be a ham & cheese sandwich since I had a fairly late lunch.

Until next time -

  3. I'm just catching up after an Internet diet as I wandered through Cedar Mesa for a couple weeks. Nice of your buddy to buy a Scamp - could be a new mods easel for you while he works for a living!
