Day 41, Friday, September 14, 2018 - Blue Mountain RV Park, Blanding, UT, Day 4

Friday, September 14, 2018 - Blue Mountain RV Park, Blanding, UT, Day 4, 0 Miles, 3,849.7 Miles for the Trip

While it was a restful, uneventful day for me, not so for the Guidos. Anne developed chest pains, and Don talked her into a visit to the emergency room. After a day of testing, they ruled out everything important, but didn't come to a definite conclusion. She is doing OK and arrived back at the trailer around 7:00PM.

I took the truck to a car wash (well, I guess it should be called a truck wash since all 4 bays were filled with pick up trucks). I only removed a layer of grime - there are still many bugs left on the grill. I vacuumed some of the red dust (they call it sand, but it is too fine to qualify as sand). The entire truck bed is covered with a layer, heavier towards the rear. While I got rid of some of it, there is still lots left. I also filled the truck gas tank with $3.30 per gallon unleaded (at least it is back to 87 octane), shaved off a half inch of beard, had a shower, and finished a depressing book - Paul Trembley's The Cabin at the End of the World. An interesting read, but I could now do with something light!

Dinner was a pot pie. I used tonight's eating alone as an excuse to try cooking a pot pie in the microwave. 11 minutes vs 65 in the oven, and a lot less heat in the trailer, so I've wondered if it is worth it. I wouldn't want to do 11 minutes of microwaving when dry camping because of the large number of 12V amp hours (about 28 or over a 5th of the battery capacity), but with hookups, it is a time saver. The verdict - not as good as baked (less flaky crust & the liquid in the pie gets too thick. Still, it is quick!

Until Tomorrow -
