Another beautiful day in Quartzsite! I went for my usual walk (no coffee today), ate breakfast, then sat around outside. It was actually warm enough by 10:00AM. A little after lunch I packed up & hooked up the trailer & drove to the dump station. While I could have dumped on the way out of the campground tomorrow, you never know how busy the place will be. After dumping, I went into town for propane, filling a near empty trailer bottle & my 10lb stove tank. I did put 3 miles on the trailer!
Back to the trailer and more sitting around reading. Another Casita showed up; this one from Pennsylvania. They didn't stay, but had questions about the LTVA. Vincent & I may have talked them into coming to the February rally at Dome Rock.
That was about it for the day. I didn't unhook, just opened the front window & cranked down the stabilizers so it will be a quick up & out in the morning heading to Sedona for the Scamp Camp Christmas Rally.
Dinner was soup & a sandwich.

La Posa West LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ, Day 23

I walked to the gas station on Main St for coffee this morning. It was warm enough that I could skip the gloves & down filled vest (44°F when I left the trailer). After breakfast I read my usual forums & blogs, then drove into town to buy some crimp connectors. One advantage of being at Quartzsite is the "Swap Shop" type stores have just about anything, and usually enough of what ever it is you are looking for that you can stock up. You usually only find a few large crimp lugs at most auto parts or big box stores; here there are bins full of them & a good prices. You do have to watch the quality - much of the stuff is rejects, or in the case of food & vitamins, outdated, but careful shopping can be rewarding.
After that is was back to the trailer & a bit of reading. I also updated my blog list.
Dinner was left over chili & a Alaskan Amber beer.

Today is the start of my third week of dry camping here at the La Posa LTVA. I'm getting used to not having 120V AC, and only need to dump the waste tanks & fill the fresh water tank every 2 weeks. I'll change that because I'm heading to Sedona this weekend & I'll dump on Thursday rather than travel Friday with half filled tanks.
I spent the day sitting outside in my chair reading. I took a break in the afternoon to buy the fixings for chili. I couldn't find the exact stuff I use at hone (including home grown & canned tomatoes) so it was a bit of an experiment. Reducing my recipe I use at home for a large pot that makes two meals for two plus 7-8 batches to freeze is a little tricky. Quite a bit hotter than my usual, but it was chili, I'm in the southwest, not upstate NY, so that's OK. Even though I tried to make a small batch, I have enough to eat it again tomorrow, and freeze a batch for sometime in the future.

Another day with little to do. I did laundry this morning, and had a shower the laundromat. It was nice to be able to turn around in the shower, and run the water as long as I wanted. After that I picked up a few things at the grocery store, checked out the junk yard next to the grocery store (it is amazing what people here in Quartzsite are trying to sell). After that it was back to the trailer & time to sit outside. The weather was nice during the afternoon, although, as usual, it cooled off quickly after the sun went behind the mountains.
Dinner was a turkey Bubba Burger, snap peas & carrots.
Vincent, Glenda (the Casita owner's), & I sat around Vincent's campfire until around 7:30, after which it got cold enough to drive us home to the trailers.

I took my camera on the way to the dumpsters to photograph a beautifully restored 1950 Flexible bus conversion that arrived last night. I talked a bit with the owner; he said it was a 5 year project.

Other than that, not too much happening today. I walked to the gas station for coffee this morning. Don't know if it is a Sunday special or what, but only $.50 instead of $.65 to fill my insulated mug today. I decided to make pancakes & bacon for breakfast. Very filling, I didn't do anything but snack for lunch. The rest of the day was spent reading the Sunday Syracuse paper, catching up on some of the blogs I regularly read, and some forums. I updated my campground & fuel cost spreadsheet; Including the $180.00 purchase of the LTVA pass, I'm down to an average of $15.53 per night for camping costs.
I spent the late afternoon cooking a mildly unsuccessful chicken breast in wine sauce over rice dish. Editable, but nothing special. I did discover that my as yet untested Instant Clear Jel is powerful stuff. Where a tablespoon of flour would be necessary to thicken the sauce, one of Instant Clear Jel was way too much! My sauce turned to a paste. Still tasted OK. While doing the dishes, I stopped for a minute to shoot the sunset.
