2024-25 Trip to the Southeast, Day 148

Day 148, Sunday, March 16, 2025, High Falls State Park, Jackson, GA, Day 11 - 0 Miles, 4,201.4 Miles for the Trip

A long night worrying about the line of storms heading our way. Lots of thunder & lightning and heavy rain, but the predicted 60MPH wind gusts didn't happen. I finally got to sleep around 3:00AM.

A warm morning, 60°F for my morning walk. Lots of folks packing up and heading out, including some very wet tenters. The sun is peaking out around clouds, and while there is still some drips from the tree leaves, it is nice for sitting outside. I finished Sorry I Missed You by Suzy Krause, another excellent book, and started The Mighty Red by Louise Erdrich.

While sitting outside I listened to the traditional sounds of a campground. The chattering of squirrels, the chirping of birds & the yelling of kids at the playground. Of course there is also the "new" campground sound - the leaf blower. As folks move out volunteers attack the leaves on the site with a leaf blower. Some folks in larger RVs bring their own. In any case, a morning sound at most state parks.

After lunch, more sitting outside. I chatted with one of my neighbors from Hungry Horse, MT about Glacier National Park - he volunteered there for 4 years but stopped as it got more & more crowded.

Around 3:30 I headed to the bathroom for a shower. Still cool from last night, but if the front passing through last night spawned tornados, I sure would have appreciated the concrete block construction.

Dinner was an Amy's Enchilada, Rice & Beans Bowl.

Until Next Time -
