2024-25 Trip to the Southeast, Day 68

Day 68, Thursday, December 26, 2024, Lakepoint Resort State Park, Eufaula, AL, Day 4 - 0 Miles, 2,834.7 Miles for the Trip

Light rain off & on starting around midnight and continuing on throughout the day. I did manage to get my morning walk in during a dry spell. Warmer than the last couple of nights with the overnight temperature only going down to the high 40's. After breakfast a new arrival, a retro travel trailer pulled into the other end of the campground. I also discovered during my walk that it is not just my site; all the utilities are on the wrong side. OK for vans that pull in head first, but wrong for everyone else. I find this seems to happen more often in parks that call themselves "resorts", but this is unusual for an American state park.

I set up the Starlink Mini outside and it is working better than when in the cabinet in the trailer. In the trailer it was trying to shoot through the front solar panel - while fiberglass is transparent to the antenna, a solar panel is not.

I got my refund from Alabama State Parks, and the daily rate for the site works out to $24.24.

Between periods of rain I made another walk around the campground. What I thought was a new retro camper is the real thing, probably 50 years old. Beautifully restored. It is amazing that it survived all that time. While not unusual for a fiberglass "egg", most stick built trailers rot well before they get that old. Interesting that the electrical hook up is on the right side for this campground (and the wrong side for everywhere else).

Dinner was a bowl of chili. I only froze 2 of them and kept one for tonight's dinner.

Until Tomorrow -
