Jan, Jon & Don |
I included a photo of some of the yellow flowers we see along the road almost everywhere on this part of the trip, and one of Don & Anne's site showing that we could have fit both trailers in one site.
Much of the drive was south on I 25. I saw my first Escape on the road - a 19 just south of Cheyenne, WY. We reached the Carter Lake South Shore Campground around 2:30. We entered at the closest entrance to I 25, and drove many miles through the park, including a very dusty section of dirt road to get to the South Shore Campground. A short drive in the other direction on paved roads took us out of the park...
We are in sites 36 & 37, Electric only sites for $33.75 per night ($8.75 of that was a reservation fee). Sloped pull through sites that required a bit of leveling, and no shade (it is in the mid 90's). There is very poor Verizon coverage, and only fair AT&T here at the campground. I was able to send messages to my sister using the cell amplifier in the trailer, and the posting of this page went well with the Mobley AT&T device in the cell amplifier cradle. I didn't take a campsite photo before we left to see Jan, and it was dark when I got back, so you will have to wait until tomorrow for a site photo. Meanwhile, the rest of today's photos are at today's LakeshoreImages page.
We drove to Lyons, CO for a visit. While the GPS told us it was 4.8 air miles to Jan's house, it was actually 26 miles by road. Jan is doing well, just got back from NY, and will be heading to the Tetons this weekend. I included a couple of photos of us & the house.
We spent the afternoon chatting, then headed back to Lyons, and the Oskar Blues Bar & Grill for dinner (our excuse was it was too late to cook). I had an excellent catfish PO Boy, and very good sweet potato fries.
Until Tomorrow.
