The Tawas Point Lighthouse |
Monday, August 6, 2018 - Tawas Point State park, Tawas, MI, 269.2 Miles, 521.3 Miles for the Trip
Almost all of today's drive was on interstates or inter provinces. We had an easy crossing back in to the US at Port Huron. One minor problem - Don & Anne went through the checkpoint first, and sent me a radio message while I was doing my interview with the customs guy so I missed it. They stopped at the bathrooms and I drove by. I never found them so I headed for the nearest US gas station & filled up the truck - $78.00. Eventually we contacted each other over the cell phones & reunited a few miles up I 69. Other than that a uneventful drive to the Tawas Point State park. I'm in site 149 & Don & Anne are across the street in 147. Both electric only sites, with electrical "hubs", each covering 4 sites. That makes it necessary for most to use at least one extension cord to reach the pedestal from their site. I was able to get close enough to mine so that I only needed the standard power cord. The sites were $43.00 for one night plus a $9.00 park entry fee.
It was dinner time by the time we were set up. It cooled off enough that eating outside was pleasant, although I did need to run out the awning to keep a very light rain off the picnic table. Anne made shrimp Alfredo which went well with a bottle of Thousand Islands Wellesley Island white wine.
After dinner we walked to the Tawas Point Lighthouse for a few photos. Unfortunately, I was not able to add the first "T" shirt of the trip to my collection - the gift shop was closed. More lighthouse photos, a neat looking lake, and today's site photos at today's LakeshoreImages page.
Until Tomorrow -
