Devils Tower at Night |
A mix of I 90 & some secondary roads, with a couple of stops in Rapid City and one at the South Dakota Air & Space Museum on our way to Devils Tower. We have all been here before, but you don't want to pass it up if you are in the area.
We are in sites 12 & 13, electric & water sites for $51.00 per night less 10% for my KOA discount, plus around $1,50 for the Wyoming tax. Since part was paid by Anne & part by me, who knows what the final amount was (I know Anne does - she keeps track of the balance between us).
After setting us we headed to the base of the tower and walked part of the trail around it.
We stopped for some photos of the Prairie Dogs on the way back to the trailers.
After a quick dinner if leftover beef carbonate, we headed to the viewpoint where I took the milky way photos a couple of years ago. One of my favorite photos - it is currently on my refrigerator door. No such luck with the milky way tonight - there is an almost (97%) full moon & heavy clouds. We did take some photos that showed the glowing clouds around the tower, including a couple that I used a flashlight to light the tower. Amazing how much light comes from the latest LED flashlights! The last photo was one from the milky way shoot a couple of years ago.
Lots more photos of everything at today's LakeshoreImages page.
Be then it was getting cold enough that we called it a night around 9:45 and headed back to the trailers. I have my electric heater on for the first time of the trip. While it is only down to 55°F, it feels colder.
Until Tomorrow.
Excellent photo.
