Site G2 |
Not much in the way of sun today. Cool & cloudy at both Quartzsite & Lake Havasu City. It is also very windy here at the rodeo grounds. Since it is all on "dirt" (actually, fine sand) everything feels gritty. They didn't open the gate until 12:00, and there were a bunch of us waiting to get in. Once they started, registration went smoothly & quickly, with a guide to the campsite.
I'm in site G2, a piece of the parking lot that has been taped off to designate sites. Dry camping for $21.43 per night, although there are somewhat nearby bathrooms & showers next to the grandstand. A couple more photos at today's LakeshoreImages page.
I don't know if the fireworks will be visible from the campsite or whether I'll have to walk over to the grandstand. It isn't all that far away, but setting up a tripod would be difficult in the stands. So far, the area between my trailer & the grandstand is clear, but since the campground is sold out, I suspect it will fill. The fireworks don't start until the middle of the week.
After setting up, I wandered around to find where things are located. I haven't found the the barbecue locations, but I have until Friday to find it.
The rest of the afternoon was spent reading web pages, journals & forums. There is both Verizon 4G LTE at -99 dBm & AT&T LTE at -92dBm coverage, both slower than they were at Quartzsite.
It is too windy to cook outside, so I reheated one of the frozen chicken stews out of the freezer. Since the trailer is in the wrong direction for tilting the rooftop solar panels, I am going to try to conserve electricity & not use the microwave when the stove will do.
Until tomorrow -
