The Desert Bar, Parker, AZ |
Saturday, March 11, 2017, La Paz County Park, Parker, AZ, Day 5, 0 Miles, 5,179.1 Miles For the Trip
I went over to the swap shop around 9:00 and picked up a hat, a nice bunch of asparagus, and, of course, a bag of kettle corn. After that it was back to the trailer to hang out until around 11:30 when I headed to the Desert Bar. The road is just as bad as its been in the past, however the Tacoma Off Road takes it much better than the RAV4!
While I saw a couple of NY plates on trucks & cars in the parking lot, I didn't meet the owners. I was only there for about 1/2 an hour, long enough to take a few photos, buy a "T" shirt, and a glass of lemonade. The drive back was much faster than the drive out - no one in front of me. Pictures at today's LakeshoreImages page.
I spent a bit more time sitting & reading, then at 3:00 headed over to the picnic at the WiFi building. Speaking of WiFi, while it is available at the building, and even here at site 80, it is slow enough that it is only useful for reading email. It hangs on web pages, uploading photos, etc. I've been using my Verizon Jetpack, which is only marginally faster. While it shows 4 bars of 4G LTE, it just barely handles posting the pages & reading forums & web pages. Still, AT&T shows LTE when it is on (sometimes outside the trailer) but doesn't do data. Most of the time it shows "No Service".
The picnic was OK, with hamburgers & hot dogs as well as lots of sides & desserts. Only about 1/2 my pie went; I left it for anyone else that arrives late.
There won't be dinner since the picnic was late enough to serve as an evening meal.
Until Tomorrow -
