Sweet Darlene's Friday Night Fish Fry |
It was closer to normal for last night's temperatures - in the low 50's with the furnace only kicking on a couple of times. By morning I was down 38 amp hours, and nothing but clouds in the sky, so I plugged the trailer into the inverter in the back of the Tacoma again. It is only rated at 400 watts, but that is enough to run the trailer's converter to help charge the batteries. The only problem is the trailer is equipped with a 35 amp WFCO brand converter. While kind to batteries because it rarely produces more than 13.7V, it does not like to go into the bulk charging stage, the stage that provides the most amperage into the batteries. It started out at 10 amps, but quickly went down to only 5. Still, I ran the truck while eating breakfast, then shut it down & relied on the solar panels to do their thing. Unfortunately, with the heavy cloud cover all I was getting is between 2-3 amps. Still, by now at the end of the day I'm only down 18 amps.
After breakfast I read for awhile, then headed to a couple of RV places to see if I could get a new gasket for the refrigerator door. There is a 4" tear in the current gasket. It is on a fold, and doesn't effect the insulation or movement of air, but it can only get worse. Unfortunately, no one had a gasket in stock, and it won't be until Tuesday that they can order one. A couple of dealers don't believe the gasket is replaceable; you need to replace the door. While I'd have to agree by looking at it, I sure hope that isn't true - I'll bet a door is not cheap!
I spent the rest of the afternoon reading, including the Syracuse Post Standard on my iPad so I can keep up with what is going on back in upstate NY.
Around 4:00 I headed to Sweet Darlene's for their Friday all you can eat cod dinner. Good coleslaw, a baked potato & like, the name says, all the cod you want, for $9.95. They have a large selection of used books, and I added two to my collection. Rather than haul my large cameras to dinner, I took a couple of photos with the iPhone. A couple more photos of Sweet Darlene's at today's LakeshoreImages page.
Until Tomorrow -
