The "Big Tent" is Almost Up |
Finally, a break from the cold weather. Mid 60's today, although it was still well below freezing last night. I took more photos of the Big Tent as they put it together. A few more photos at today's LakeshoreImages page.
For those that don't know what it is all about, the Big Tent started as a mostly RV sales venue with 100's of booths running for a week in mid January. It and the surrounding inexpensive & free camping attracted close to 1,000,000 visitors to Quartzsite. While the crowds are smaller now, it still attracts crowds well over 100,000. The booths in the tent have changed from primarily RV related to about 3/4 typical state fair types, but you can still find just about anything you need for your RV.
The tent is mostly up, just awaiting the side panels, and a bit of cranking on the lines on the east end. Amazing that they can put up a tent the size of a football field in 2 days, but they have had years of practice.
I made a quick trip to town for some birthday cards, and a squeeze bottle of mayonnaise. The rest of the day was spent outside reading.
Dinner was a trip to Sweet Darlene's and the Friday Night Fish Fry. The all-you-can-eat meal is no longer available; it goes away in January, but there was plenty of fish with the meal, and excellent coleslaw. The meal price has gone up a $1.00 since last year, but it is still a good meal for $10.99.
Until Tomorrow -
