2025-26 Trip to the Southwest, Day 69

Day 69, Friday, December 26, 2025 - La Paz County Park, Parker, AZ, Day 27 - 0 Miles, 3,449.7 Miles for the Trip

Back to cool nights at 51°F and 53°F for my morning walk. The humidity is high, at least compared to last week, 80% outside & 60% in the trailer. Lots of condensation on the windows, trailer & truck, and, unfortunately, on the seat of the camp chair I left outside overnight. I discovered it when I took my usual seat after my walk.

A quiet day. I finished Richard Osman's The Impossible Fortune and went back to Christopher Bollen's A Beautiful Crime last night.

I sat outside reading & with the Nikon Z8 taking hummingbird photos. I forgot that I had taken a photo of the Santa Quad a couple of days ago:

I played around with shutter speeds - slow at 1/320 of a second, and the second at 1/16000. The slow speeds dissolves the wings, the faster freezes them. Both an Anna's Hummingbird.

A little later a Costa's Hummingbird stopped by:

Drove into town and AutoZone for a switch to let me shut off the power to the Starlink Mini when it is plugged into the 24V outlet on the back of the trailer. While not necessary when I have hookups, it will save going outside & unplugging it when I'm not using it in order to save the 2 amps it draws when running on batteries. I have a bunch of micro toggle switches, but they are only rated at 3 amps, and if the snow melt is on, the Mini can draw as much as 5 amps.

On the way back I picked up a couple of deli chicken thighs for dinner.

Until Next Time -
