Stream Behind My Site |
I got an early (for me) start out of Gilbert Ray, heading to the Sunny Flat Forest Service Campground in the Coronado National Forest. The campground was recommended to me by an Escape 17 owner I met at Gilbert Ray. Since it is a popular and small campground, I hoped to get there close to the exit times for the sites.
When I arrived, there were 3 sites available, 2 that were fairly shallow & sloped, and one that I fit fine, but heavily shaded. Shouldn't be a problem for 2 nights. So, I'm in site 3 for $5.00 per night with the senior discount. Dry camping with a vault toilet near the middle of the campground. Very pretty mountains surround the campground, and a small stream running behind my site. A very pleasant place to stay! The campground quickly filled just after I arrived, so my timing was OK.
I walked around the campground loop, taking a few afternoon photos under very harsh light.
Later, after the sun shifted behind the mountains, I made another round with much more pleasant lighting. Both sets of photos are at today's LakeshoreImages Page.
There is no cell coverage here at the campground on either Verizon or AT&T, so it will be a couple of days before any of this gets posted. No FM radio other than one Mexican station, but even though I discontinued my trailer's portable XM subscription 3 days ago, it is still working. We will see for how long since it is the only reception I get from the outside world.
Dinner was a turkey sandwich & a salad.
Until Tomorrow -
