Winsor Castle, Pipe Spring National Monument |
It is warming up - I didn't even need the furnace last night. Still lots of open, but reserved spaces in the campground. I haven't seen the owners of the Trillium - seems like they dropped it off, but didn't come back.
I decided it would be a good day to see Pipe Spring National Monument. Pipe Spring was a Mormon outpost and fort that was located at one of the few fresh water springs in the area, and about 50 miles from the campground. It provided a rest stop for travelers, a farm to grow food for the building of the Mormon temple at St George, and became a national monument in 1923.
There is a museum, a tour through Winsor Castle (the fort) and self guided tours around the grounds.

Dinner will be one of the batches of frozen beans & sausage.
Until tomorrow -
Someday we will head out to go exploring, and Quail Creek State Park is one place to put on the map.
