Red Tailed Hawk |
After reading the Sunday Syracuse Post Standard, I made pancakes & bacon for brunch, making enough extra bacon for a BLT for lunch. Other than that, I spent the day talking with some of the other campers, reading, and shooting photos of birds.
There has been a pair of red tailed hawks that have circled over the campground, but only when I didn't have the camera handy, or had a wide angle lens mounted. Today I saw one of them in the distance, so I put the 70-200mm zoom on the camera and waited. At first, I thought the only bird photo other than hummingbirds I was going to get was a raven, but one of the hawks finally circled over the campground. Never got close to my campsite, so the photos are a bit soft, but at least I got him. More photos at today's LakeshoreImages page.
After that, it was a few hummingbirds shots, then it was time to cook the chicken for dinner. I'll be packing up some of my stuff tonight in preparation to heading out in the morning.
Until tomorrow -
Red tail hawks are my most admired predator bird. Watch them circle, float on the air drafts, etc....awe inspiring.
