2024-25 Trip to the Southeast, Day 78

Day 78, Sunday, January 5, 2025, Lakepoint Resort State Park, Eufaula, AL, Day 14 - 0 Miles, 2,834.7 Miles for the Trip

Around 40°F for my morning walk. I checked out the Deer Court campground and it is a little under half full. We are still at 3 trailers and one tent here in the Clark Loop.

After breakfast I read for a bit, then made my usual Sunday phone calls. Kyle said he will definitely need the snow blower - they had lake effect snow yesterday as well as overnight. After hours of shoveling at work he just buried his car in the driveway & will dig it out tomorrow. The Guidos are back in Binghamton and had to do a bit of shoveling, but nothing like Oswego.

I looked at the predicted temperatures & driving conditions to get to Indian Springs State Park tomorrow and the description was for winter driving conditions with night time temperatures in the low 20's. So, I decided to skip Indian Springs and stop for 2 nights at Little Ocmulgee State Park in McRae, GA. Not as far north as Indian Springs and a bit warmer. I stayed there on the way south in November. Couldn't get the same site, but one about 10 sites away. Probably a good idea since rain is predicted and site 53 that I was in in November was at a low point in the campground. Not as wet as the site I'm in here, but the road next to the site was a small lake. Not sure why, but Little Ocmulgee State Park doesn't use the Georgia State Park reservation system. A bit confusing since the rest of the parks are on Reserve America & you can look up, change or cancel reservations in one place.

Speaking of wet, it has been raining off & on this morning. Light enough that it didn't make a lake out of my site. Cool at 50°F at 2:00. I spent the day sitting in the trailer reading. I pulled the water hookup; all I have to do int the morning is disconnect the electric & run up the tongue jack.

I looked up the showers at Little Ocmulgee State Park, and although I gave them a B+, I didn't say anything about heat in the bathrooms, probably because it was in the 70's when I was there. I decided to shower here. I managed to hit the bathroom between rain showers.

Dinner was a turkey sandwich & a salad.

Until Tomorrow -
