Lake Ontario in January |
While January's average world wide temperatures were the second highest in history, we have had the coldest February ever. In fact, the average February temperature for Syracuse was 9°F, the coldest for any month in history. While the snowfall has been near average, most of it fell in February; we still have 2' - 3' on the ground with higher drifts. I even had to shovel my roof. While I probably could have skipped it, once the snow is over 3' deep I get worried.
We do have a sign of Spring about 2 weeks away; the opening of Rudy's. Rudy's is a fish stand on Lake Ontario famous for it's "hot" sauce, which is applied to everything from fish sandwiches to hot dogs. Hard to believe they will be able to open - here is what it looks like today.
Rudy's on Lake Ontario |
The lake is just behind the building, although you will just have to take my word for that. If you look in the distance, you can see a pay loader that is starting to clear the parking area & the front of the building:
Digging Out |
Assuming I can dig my trailer out of the snow, I'll be attending the 8th Annual Eggscursion at the Townsend KOA in Townsend, TN April 15 - 20. Hopefully, I'll have some new modifications to report on the trailer before the trip.
Until next time -
