Sea Nettle Jellyfish |
It started out as a nice sunny day, but during the afternoon the rain started, and kept up for the rest of the day. A little after 10:00 I went to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. With both an over 65 & an AAA discount, the price dropped from $20.00 to $16.15, not too bad. The photos are lousy - most of my attempts at shooting aquariums are disappointing. Too many reflections from the glass, and very low light levels. I suspect the only way to get good images is to shoot when there isn't anyone else there so the room lights can be turned off. In addition to room lighting, many of the tanks were also exposed to daylight so you get what your get. And, it the names are wrong, don't blame me - I hope they are good guesses!
On the way back to the trailer after the aquarium, I stopped to photograph the Yaquina Lighthouse. It is built more like Oswego's - a very short tower on a traditional 1 story building. I also watched a NOAA ship heading out through the break wall. More photos on today's LakeshoreImages page.
Once the rain started, I decided it would be a good day to do laundry. I purchased a steak yesterday for dinner, but I'm going to save it and hope for better weather tomorrow. Looks like soup for dinner! I'm not sure where I'll end up tomorrow. I called Champoeg State Park to see if site A17 (where I'll be staying starting Wednesday) was available for tomorrow night, but only got an answering machine, and no call back. I'll probably head for there anyway since it is only 99 miles away (according to Matilda, the GPS lady). Worst case, I'll have to move on Wednesday (assuming they have some walk in sites).
Until tomorrow -
